IDC’s press-release index reports that worldwide OEM-refurbished printer and MFP shipments grew 14.5% year over year in the first half of 2026. Coverage of the tracker says growth was concentrated in the Americas and EMEA.
The definition matters
OEM-refurbished means equipment restored through a manufacturer-controlled programme. It is not interchangeable with any second-hand or third-party-repaired device. Warranty, parts, page count, consumables and certification can differ materially.
The 14.5% figure is shipment growth in a defined global segment. It does not prove local consumer demand, store margin or growth for unbranded refurbishment.
Where sellers can add value
Business buyers may value lower acquisition cost, warranty, genuine consumables and sustainability documentation. Ecommerce listings should disclose model year, refurbishment source, page count, included toner, duplex/network features, compatible operating systems and warranty process.
Avoid vague “like new” claims. Photograph the actual grade, serial-label area without exposing security-sensitive data, packaging and test page. State whether consumables are new, starter or partially used.
Quality gate
Test print quality, scanner, duplexer, network connection, firmware, error history and duty-cycle fit. Confirm spare-parts and toner availability. Factory-reset stored address books and network credentials before resale.
Start with a small set of supported models and measure warranty claims, consumable attachment and support time. A low purchase price can disappear under technician visits and unavailable parts.
Merchant action
Create separate conditions for new, OEM-refurbished and seller-refurbished stock. A DokanEasy store can use variants or separate SKUs so condition and warranty remain explicit.
Data limitation: the global tracker does not establish Bangladesh demand. Sellers need local paid-order and service-capacity tests.
